basking

Here I am basking on my upstairs balcony. I like it up here where I can spread out and relax. I feel each limb drenched with heat. Today it is rather hot though and I ended up lying down on the table under my beach umbrella and then at last I went inside to lie down on my pure woollen rug on the lounge, while I supervise Lynettea on the computer.

Maybe she will give up soon and get me some crispies to eat. You can get a better idea of how high up I am looking at this picture. The roof is specially designed to protect me from sunburn. I have to be up high to supervise the fish. They are inclined to be a little unruly and make loud splashing noises in my pond.

The noise of the fountain is quite relaxing as it plunges through the reeds. You can see some of my giant cannas in the background behind the trellis. The trellis keeps out intruders. I can also see birds darting down into the birdbath from my grevillea plant. Lynettea says it gives me some stimulation to watch these birds. I worry about her.

What a lovely place for lounging outside. Beautiful flowers, birdies and fish! You've got a pond...with real fish!
Sounds like heaven. Some kitties have all of the luck.

That is furry high up. Be careful and don't fall so sound asleep that you fall way down.

Hey, great photo! Thanks for commenting on my blog (below). And what a beautiful cat you are! I'm in Arizona where it now goes to 17-20 degrees F. at night. Great to hear from Australia!

Dear Cat..
It sounds like you had a wonderful day basking in your special places.

ps... We don't think that you need to worry about your human unless you see her swooping down from the weigela bush into the fountain

Hi Diamond - This is Oscar from Melbourne. I love your balcony! I'm so jealous, 'cause I would love to sit on one when I spy on the birdies at our birdfeeder. And you have fishies? Cool!

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I'd love to visit your catnip pot in Adelaide, since you said you don't care for catnip. (My big brother Gerald didn't like catnip either; what got him crazy was onion bread). It's too bad that it's been so hot in Adelaide; it's getting hot here in Melbourne now (35 degrees today!) and it's making me very lazy.

Can I make a link to your blog on my blog?

Oh what a perfect place for such a hot summertime!

Here we have an extreme cold winter with a lot of snow. So much, that Maus & Allegra spend most of there time near the heater. Spring seems so far away ...

You are basking in the warmth and we are up to our kitty collars in snow here. Wow. FAZ

Have you melted in the heat this week Diamond?

Diamond said...

It was really hot here, but now it is cooler. I did stay inside for a while when it was hot. I cannot bear to be confined inside though and require my cat flap (invented by Isaac Newton) to be open at all times in case I wish to go out or in.

Sounds like paradise to me, Diamond and I do envy you your giant Cannas. Mine are looking very scrawny and I haven't worked out the secret to make them grow very well.
