The Food Bearer just sprinked some crispies for us on the top of The Pond. Later than usual. Everything is not as it was when Diamond was here. The Dragon Guardian never speaks up for us. WE wonder if he cares about us at all, as he is silent except for the gush of water from his lips.
Then Dawn rose to the surface and he told me he heard a strange noise

thunder circles the horizon
silent birds crouch
under leaves

He had to guess about the birds, but he couldn't hear them, so they were obviously crouching somewhere and he told me that is where they go at night. The trees were tossing their leaves around, so hopefully the birds would get some shelter. Do the trees make the wind? Dawn said that was a silly question when I asked, but I still have my doubts. When there is wind the trees wave their leaves and branches.

A lightning fork stabs through the orange clouds and then a few raindrops dimple the Pond Water. Dawn tells me to hide under one of the slate shelves. But I notice he is  up near the surface, perhaps musing on the orange glow around us.

Love your poem Dart; hope you and the other fish weren't too bothered by the thunder.
Dart, you are a very poetically-minded fishie!

Dart, perhaps you can join Dawn near the surface. Then you, too, will know what it is he is looking at.

Hello Dart, dear. All of your are such wonderful poets. Dawn is just being protective of you, love. When you are more comfortable with the bolts of lightning and skies opening up, he will welcome your company. He doesn't want you to develop any fears by coming to the surface before you are ready. A good friend and leader, he is.

Dart, we wonder what the rain feels like when one is all ready in water. We like the sound wind makes as it blows through the trees. purrs,
