Dawn came up this morning briefly and swam around quite vigorously during feeding time. He did snatch a few pieces of food. He is now staying at the bottom of the pond again and didn't come up for feed time this evening.
Dawn is staying at the bottom of The Pond resting on his poor old fins. We are worried about him. He didn't like our Christmas presents, which were a shell that Lynettea told me she thought we would play with and a lot of duckweed that a kind lady at the plant nursery gave her. We have eaten most of the duckweed now.
We are wondering if Dawn has constipation, which is a bad complaint for fish. If he rests a while he may get over it. We don't know what to think, as Dawn is the oldest of us, coming to the pond before we were born.

Happy New Year to all our friends and visitors
from Lynettea, and all The Pond Fish (Dawn, Princess Aurora, Streak and Dart Shubunkin).
Dawn has not been very active and I find him hiding at the bottom of the pond under one of the slate shelves. He does come up occasionally and nips at some food, but he is an elderly fish now, seventeen plus. So I fear the worst.
I think the other fish will be distressed if he also goes to the Rainbow Bridge, but there doesn't seem much I can do. It will be a sad day to lose my big fish Dawn.
Princess Aurora seems to be marshalling the other two and is obviously preparing to take charge.
We are late in putting up our greetings. We hope all our friends and visitors have a specially nice holiday season. We are thinking of all of you with love and affection. We haven't seen snow and it is hot here, but Lynettea did a lot of work trying to make us an original card, so we are grateful. We think the snow looks a bit like waves. So we like that.

Junior has now passed to The Rainbow Bridge, very sadly for his Mom, who will miss him. We will miss him too. We think that our Guardian Diamond will be there to greet Junior. We miss Diamond too, with his furry form perched on the side of the pond. Some of the younger ones still look for him.
Just before nightfall we swim towards my friend Lynettea .
We have just heard that the Koi friends of one of our visitors Kjelle Bus may begin occasionally blogging on his blog. The blog is in Swedish, but if you click the Translate button at the top of the blog it translates into English.
This is a great idea and we are offering a star to Kjelle Bus in appreciation, to add to his Awardie. http://kjellebus.blogspot.com.au/

It rained today. We haven't seen rain for a long time bouncing all over the surface of The Pond World. All the water that was sucked up into the air yesterday and the day before by the hot weather of 38C fell today and filled up The Pond again.
Now we are blogging we see the Food Bearer more often. I put my head up to observe her but feel a bit overwhelmed if she leans over the pond.
It is many years since she lifted me out of the pond and I have grown bigger since then. She took me out at one time to look at my scales more closely and check if there was something wrong with them. Thankfully she put me back into the soft water very quickly and added some medicine to the water.
We haven't yet found any other blogging fish. My friend Lynettea was speaking to me about this today. She feels that as perhaps the only blogging fish we have a duty to find out about fish that live in other ponds and tell people about them.
We sometimes get concerned about the fate of our pond. It seems big to us, but we hear that there is a much bigger pond called the ocean, where wild fish live. There are also lakes and rivers where many fish of other species live their daily lives.
Maybe we need a television screen out here where we can see some nature programs. Diamond was keen on watching documentaries about the lives of other animals and he often speculated about what it would be like to live as a 'natural cat'.
Lynettea found this article about how many fish there are and where they live. She told us that most fish species live in smaller places like rivers and lakes and there are not as many living in the ocean. where do fish live
We hope our cat and dog visitors will take an interest in this too.
best regards to all,
Princess Aurora (Shubunkin) for The Pond Fish
I have suggested to the Food Bearer that she get an underwater camera to take some better pictures of us. We find that our special features are often distorted by glare from the sun shining on the water or the ripples on the pond surface.
Dawn: 'Could you please get some better equipment to take pictures of us?'
Food Bearer: 'What do you mean? I take beautiful pictures and I try to capture all your best points.'
Dawn: 'I am not certain that I would call the end of my tail my best point?'
Food Bearer: 'You have a beautiful tail Dawn!'
Dawn: 'I want pictures of my whole beauty, shown clearly and not blurred!'
Food Bearer: 'You need to slow down, Dawn. My camera doesn't work that fast.'
Dawn: 'For Christmas we want an UNDERWATER CAMERA that works very fast.'
Food Bearer: 'That would be very expensive, Dawn.'
Dawn: 'We are celebrities now as Blogging Fish and we need our pictures taken properly.'
Food Bearer: 'Well, I don't think I could afford that at the moment, Dawn ..."

Note by Princess Aurora: I think this is an imaginary dialogue between Dawn and my friend Lynettea, as he doesn't seem to be getting through to her.
The Food Bearer found a few photos of other fishes she said we could use for our blog. She doesn't have many photos of other fish. It is as if she isn't really interested in them.
These fish were in the Aquarium at Beijing Zoo
We hope you enjoy them.

We now have all of our six stars. Cara n Crew at Fraidy Cats have sent us a star. Thank you and all of the other cats and dogs who have given us stars. It makes us feel very special. We are now twinkling like we can imagine a Christmas Tree, although from The Pond we have never seen one. We can't even see the real stars properly from where we are. The Food Bearer says she thinks we had better stay in the water and use our imaginations. We have plenty of that.
Dawn (Shubunkin) for all of the Appreciative Pond Fish.
Thank you Sparkle for our fifth star. We are not sure where the entry is on Sparkle's huge web site, but she told us she had given us one.We feel so shiny that all our scales are sparkling!!!
Dawn on behalf of The Pond Fish
Thanks to Keisha, Meowmeowmans and Nellie from The Cat from Hell for awarding me three more stars!!!! I am feeling very special. I am now a four star blog. Is that like a four star hotel? I have sent the awardie to all the cats and dogs who have posted to me recently. If you feel left out then please let me know. I don't have hundreds of contributors, but some are my loyal friends and that means a lot to me.

best wishes to all from Dawn, Princess Aurora, Streak and Dart (Shubunkin)
We are not sure if this awardie is entirely for us. We think it is for Angel Diamond too. Diamond was our guardian cat for a long time, so we are happy to put the awardie on Diamond's blog. We may be the first Shubunkin family to receive this type of AWARDIE, so we are very happy.
Thank you Sherlock, Ash and Traveler.
Will have to think who to nominate, as a lot of our friends have already received the awardie.
We wondered if there are any other Shubunkins with blogs. Dawn had a look on the Internet last night, with the help of my friend Lynettea and he couldn't find any.
Surely there are a few fish out there with human friends to help them connect with the air world.
Here us a picture of three of us frolicking in the splashings from our Dragon Fountain Guardian. He doesn't pay any attention to us, but he makes splashings to keep our water oxygenated.
Princess Aurora (Shubunkin) for The Pond Fish
PS If any fish or cats or dogs want to have a bear friend of their own you can look at the details of the bears on this web page. Animals Asia befriend a bear
And Dawn has been reaching out with his haiku into the air world. Lynettea is helping him.
After some discussion with the other Pond Fish, we decided (under my guidance) to take over Diamond's sponsorship of a Moon Bear. Diamond's bear friend Emma sadly passed to the Rainbow Bridge shortly before Diamond also journeyed there and we like to think of them both running and playing together in the forest and grasslands.
Diamond then took on the sponsorship of Moon Bear George and George will now become our friend. I am posting some photos of our friendship certificate, which has Diamond's name on it. We were a bit worried about where we would find the resources to take up our friendship with George, but the Foodbearer has assured us that she will not cut our food supplies in payment.
