A Sad Announcement

A little while ago, Lynettea's great niece in Queensland sent some photos of one of Diamond's oldest friends, who had recently travelled to the Rainbow Bridge, at the age of twenty, which is a great age for a cat. We are very sad for his human family.
Sanka was older than Lynettea's great niece. He was her guardian for the whole of her life and the companion of her mother from when he was a kitten.
Lynettea met Sanka when he was younger and thought he was a lovely cat. Sanka wrote some letters to Diamond about his life and Diamond wrote some messages in return. Those were the days when a lot of messages went by snail mail rather than email.
Sanka even sent a drawing of his paw to Diamond and a beautiful pencil portrait that we have hanging on the wall. The drawing was by Lynettea's great niece.
Such a long and generous life is worth celebrating, so we are posting the pictures here.

Even when a kitty has been a part of a family only for a short time, their passing leaves a big hole. But when a kitty has been a part of a family for that long, it must be very sad indeed! It IS like losing a family member. We send gentle purrs to the family and are sad for their loss xxx

We are very sorry that Sanka had to go to the Bridge. Thank you for letting us know, Sasha, and for posting these lovely pictures and remembrances of him. We send comforting purrs and prayers to Sanka's family, especially Lynettea's grand niece. She and Sanka obviously had a deep and special relationship, and we can only imagine how much she missed him.

We take solace in the fact that Sanka and Diamond are happy and healthy together at the Bridge, waiting until the day when they are reunited with their loved ones.

I am sorry that Sanka has gone to the Bridge, but you are right that is a long life for a kitty. He was a handsome boy.

This IS loosing a family member. Crushing beyond words. He was one of the ties that bind. He is irreplaceable.
Our special candle will be in his honour. On the candle it says
"Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but
Laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you....
I loved you so.... 'twas Heaven here with you."
