It is undignified to have your furs ruffled up and be called "the dearest little cat in the world" when you are trying to concentrate on guarding the grapevine from blackbirds.
'The grapes are shrivelled, Sasha and the day nearly done.'
As if it wasn't hard enough guarding Lynettea when I take her for walkies.

trip for Valentine's Day
As a special treat for Valentine's Day, the day after my birthday, Lynettea organized a trip for me to visit the corpse flower in the Bicentennial Conservatory, Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Here are some visitors snapping me as I rested near the flower.
I wonder if I will feature in the newspaper: 'Celebrity Cat Sasha honours the Botanic Gardens with a rare visit.' or: 'Visitors queue to see the Famous Cat inspect our Famous Flower.' Here I am, resting after inspecting the flower. You can just see one of the visitors in the background, trying to get a photo of me. Lynettea had to climb on the high up walkway to take her photo.
My last visit was on Valentine's Day in 2015. I notice the plants have grown taller and must tell Lynettea to take me there more often.

Happy Third Birthday Sasha
Today is my birthday. It is hard to say I am already three. Life is rushing past.
My day: I slept in on the bed while it was part made. After a jelly style food breakfast - my favourite, Lynettea pulled out the big blue parcel. It was very difficult to unwrap. I just watched and didn't tear it with my teeth, as after all I am three years old now and not a small kitten anymore.
Here are some pictures of what we found. The green bit is my gift. I already had my toys.
It is artificial grass.
I had another surprise birthday gift this evening and had to spring up on the trellis to get it. A lizard dropped its little tail for me. I rushed inside with it in my mouth and then brought it out again.
Lynettea says there is another small gift, but she is too tired after all her work and we will have to hunt for it tomorrow.

will tomorrow ever come?
Lynettea: 'It will be your third birthday tomorrow, Sasha!'
Sasha: 'Will we get to find out what is in the blue parcel?'
Lynettea: 'We will see.'

the water returns
The small fish are all thrilled. We knew it would happen. The water returned.

Law of Nature
When the water began to sink, the younger fish thought the great pond was draining and their lives were coming to an end. But the older fish reassured them saying, 'The great pond rises and sinks at long intervals, but after it sinks, it always rises again. That is The Law of Nature.'
Then the cat said, 'Dear fish, this is only one of many small ponds that are filled and then drain away. I have never seen The Great Pond, but if I place my ear against this shell, I can hear it roaring.'

Resting before the Big Day
We are experiencing the big buildup to one of the most significant days of the year, my birthday on 13 February.
I am needing to get all the rest I can, in preparation. Lynettea has promised she will not invite any annoying visitors, so I don't have to hide under the bed on my special day.
I hope she sticks to that, as I find humans very unreliable.

Life in isolation
Am I to spend my life under the bed? The electrician is here again today and I have retreated to the bedroom. Lynettea shut the door, so I could have my privacy. I was just beginning to get out and about again, sleeping perched up on my outdoor shelves and enjoying a bit of mild weather. Now it is back to my cosy in the dark.
As I lie here, I am wondering about my blue parcel. I hope it will be worth all the wondering between now and 13 February. It seems a long time to wait.
Lynettea says, 'Don't waste your life in dreaming, Sasha. Life is to be lived in the NOW!'
So that is her latest tack. I hope it doesn't last too long. Meanwhile, I think I will go to sleep.

A Parcel
A big blue parcel came for us today. Lynettea was out when they tried to deliver it and I didn't open the door, so Lynettea had to wheel her shopping trolley down to the Post Office to get it. She had a card that the postal person left in our letterbox. When she got to the counter, the man asked her to prove she was Lynettea. How silly! Who else could she be?
Fortunately she had ID and brought the parcel home.
I wonder what it is?
Lynettea says it might be a birthday present and we will have to wait until 13th February to find out.

In seclusion
At first I was in my comfy basket on top of the washing machine, but now I am under the bed again. The electrician is back. I told Lynettea we didn't need him to fix anything else up, but she took no notice. I can hear him rattling and clanging away in the kitchen now. The bedroom door is closed to give me some privacy for my much needed nap.
