'You're not feeling depressed are you,  Sasha? You are lying there with your eyes closed for long periods of time. Sometimes I can see your eyes open in slits and then they shut again.'

Well, you have cleared my toys away and it is a bit cool to relax outside. I only wanted to go out for a short time yesterday and the day before...'

You aren't feeling ill, are you Sasha?'

Well, I have all these thoughts. Sometimes I would like to share them with someone who understood my deepest needs...

'I want you to be happy, Sasha.'

Maybe if I just stayed here quietly for a while, with my eyes half closed in the semi-dark, with this rug around me, I would feel better, cosier...

Sleeping past midday

What is this, some new punitive routine?
'Sleeping past midday again, Sasha! I hope nothing is wrong.'
I was up early. Don't you remember? I meowed and you put some of my jelly food in the new plate I don't particularly like and I had a snack from it before going to bed. Now I need to rest. I can't burn the candle at both ends and hold it in the middle, or my furs might catch on fire!
'What's that, Sasha? You haven't been playing with matches have you? You know that is dangerous!'
She knows we don't have matches lying around.
Well, I thought about getting up,  but it is far too early. It will be better when daylight saving ends.

Afternoon shift

Around 3.30 pm. Afternoon shift begins. I stand up and groom before doing exercises.
Wait. Exercises?
I might snuggle down again and think about that.
I don't feel ready.
Not yet.

A pest

Just because these toys are begging me to play with them, I DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT.
It is hot and very humid and I am not in the mood!

Natural Killer

I am used to being insulted, but today Lynettea came into the laundry as I was trying to revive a gecko. It had dropped a small section of its tail and then had a heart attack.
Lynettea stared at it, then shouted, 'Oh no! Sasha what have you done?'
Next thing I am shut in the kitchen and when she opens the door again the gecko has vanished
I wonder if she takes them outside and eats them where I can't see?
Oh well, it is good to share prey, but she could show some gratitude.
I had only been going to play with the gecko in any case. It wasn't my fault it had a weak heart.
Then I took her out for walkies. I found a dead rat in the garden. Our neighbour came in to collect it. Maybe they are cooking it up for rat stew.
So I am not sure who is the natural killer.

this gecko was outside in the front door. Probably not the one I found.

I saved the pond fish

Just as well I warned them. Look at their pond!
Lynettea said in her stern voice of warning not to 'interfere with them in the temporary pond, which is filling up my play area.
I hope they are grateful to me for the warning.
I couldn't supervise as I went under the bed and then Lynettea shut the door.

fishpond leaking

I have to let the fish know to prepare to move. Their pond is leaking. Some people are bringing temporary accommodation for them. It will be all over my area.
Lynettea says it can't be helped.
Must go.

Too personal

I find remarks like, 'Look at your beautiful soft fluffy thighs,' far too personal.
Cats are not toys for the amusement of humans.
Now if it was more like, 'What is your opinion, Sasha,' on a piece of news we have just heard, that would be respectful.
Even a remark about the intelligent expression in my eyes would be offensive. Of course I have an intelligent expression!!! Why is that not just assumed?
Humans have a lot to learn. Animals are expected to learn how to communicate with humans, but humans seem to expect to get away with not learning our languages.  Perhaps they aren't smart enough?
Mostly humans just want to train you so you will obey their orders. They aren't interested in your opinion about anything.

She can walk around me

So what! I am tired. My guard duties leave me exhausted.

Waiting to greet a relative

Lynettea says we are expecting a long lost relative to visit, so I won't be able to lie in bed most of the day. Does she expect ME to clean the house. I feel fatigued after night patrol.

Forced into an unusual place

I am forced to use my contemplation area in a different place now.
This morning I got up and sprang on 'her' bed while she was trying to make it. So she rushed into my room, picked up my futon and put it away.
I had to spring from under the mock wolf skin rug she threw over me and rush into my room.
Here I am trying to make the best of things in the wrong place.

I know my scout bag looks untidy, but I need it. I use it to sit and reflect. I need to reflect in a quiet place.
'I tidied it away, Sasha,' she says.
I found it perched on top of some of my other belongings, all tidied away, and rattled it.
'Oh well, you can have it down,' she says.
She throws it on the floor in an untidy manner.
But I want it where it was before.
'I have put something else there now, Sasha. It looks much neater,' she says.

But where will I sit and reflect?
I walk outside.

Everything changes

There is an uneasy spirit going on. I like continuity and Lynettea says change is good for me.
More later.

Caught Napping

I have been asleep here in this tiny cosy all morning. It is now after 2.30 in the afternoon.
When I briefly got up, being forced by hunger pangs early in the morning, Lynettea packed my futon away without asking my permission.
The fish took advantage and posted on their blog. Usually they don't get the chance, as cats rule.

My sunflower

My sunflower has just flowered,  if anyone is interested.
If we had the blinds up, I could see it from the kitchen window. We have had the blinds shut for days, but it is forecast to be cooler tomorrow.
On the sunflower's leaf there was an insect when Lynette took the photo for me. We don't know what it is.
