Almost perfect, because you never know what may happen next.
Lynettea says I am too cautious and fearful.
Today is good so far. I am lounging on one of my aerial walkways in the warmth. It is like a baby bear warm porridge day. Perhaps a bit early to ring the bell for dinner.

upcoming third birthday
I have just been trying to get Lynettea to realize that my third birthday is coming up soon. It is the day before Valentine's day, which should be easy for her to remember. It is difficult enough to get her to please me on a day to day basis, let alone remember important anniversaries.
I am not sure when my gotcha day occurs. I would have to look at Lynettea's diaries. It was three months after my birth date. She sometimes has asked me if I remember her visiting my nursery soon after I was born and then a couple of weeks before my real mother let her take me away.
She says I was the naughty kitten who ran out of the nursery to meet her, when the doors were opened. I don't remember that.
These photos are very blurry, but it is the best I can do. Maybe if you keep them small they will look better.

and here is a photo of my real Mum closer to my Birthday. I wonder if her far away look means she was already thinking of how much she would miss me when I went to my new home.
quiet again
The electrician came, in spite of my instructions to Lynettea, but he only had time to attach one fan to the ceiling before a company rang and he had to rush off to fix some roller doors so they could be installed . Lynettea said not to worry, he will be back Monday afternoon.
I am not worried. Once again I miaouwed to forbid her getting him back, but she will probably tale no notice. Does anyone know of a good training program for disobedient humans? Or a good trainer? Who would pay for the training, though? I need a Volunteer.

a change of scene
I have spent the whole day in my laundry, or maybe I could call it my sunroom. It is a change from napping under the bed. I helped Lynettea with the washing of clothes and she thanked me for being as she likes to say, her 'little helper'.
Now I am about to go outside to check on the fish. Lynettea warned me the electrician may be here again tomorrow to do some more work. I asked her to put him off, as everything we have is quite satisfactory from my point of view, and I don't like the disturbance.
She isn't always good at following my instructions. I read in the blog that Diamond sometimes considered whether to employ a different human, but I am not sure how to go about that. Most of the time she tries to be good.

I SURVIVED
It is all quiet now, but I don't think I will come out just yet. It is totally quiet. I could hear him testing the fan and the light is a lot brighter LED lights. The fan is very quiet. Lynettea says he will be back when he gets more parts to do the other fans and lights. I am not sure if I want the house so glary. Cats can see well enough. It is humans that have the problem.
I may just lurk here for a while.

desperate message from under the bed
I am crouched here in the corner all huddled up together, trying to be brave. Lynettea asked me to come out before all the banging started, but I was too nervous. Now I am keeping as quiet and still as possible. Lynettea said the electrician was installing a new fan and light on the ceiling. Why can't he wait until a more suitable time when I have gone outside?
Lynettea said to stay quietly here.
I will shrink really small and keep my eyes shut.

Picture of my private quarters
Not many people can see my special place. I am not 'lurking' there, in spite of Lynettea's remarks to me. I just like peace and quiet and if visitors cannot see me, I am well pleased. I am up now, so Lynettea could use the flashie. I have been in my outdoor place and will now use my equipment.

A noisy day
Today was hot, muggy and noisy. I spent a lot of time in my private lounging quarters under the bed. With the mock fur bedspread hanging down, I feel more secluded there. Lynettea has put some carpet squares with my special cosy (that I got for Christmas) in the corner, so it is really snuggy for me now.
There were a lot of people walking up and down the street, but not many cars this morning, as the street was blocked off for the start of the 4th day of the Tour Down Under, which is for bicycle riders. Lynettea went down to see all the activity, as it was very close to us. She took a good photo of the cyclists heading off on their run to Victor Harbor. Later she went into Adelaide in the bus and got caught in a thunderstorm. Fortunately I was under the bed, so it did not worry me.

Penguin Appreciation Day
I know this is a cat blog, but Lynettea told me she saw on Facebook that it was penguin appreciation day, and she happens to have just taken some photos of the fairy penguins at Adelaide Zoo enjoying their swimming pool. Personally, I am not fond of swimming, but I can see its attraction in this hot weather.

A comment by The Pond Fish
We are wondering if we would be more popular if we had fur?
Our second wonder is if fur would be suitable for a pond and whether we would prefer to keep our pretty scales.

Something from The Pond Fish
The fish keep complaining to me that they are not getting any share of the blog. They don't think it is fair. After all they maintained the blog for months after Diamond passed to the Rainbow Bridge and while I was being born and growing up before I came to be their Guardian.
Some of the fish are not sure if I am their Guardian. Some of them keep looking up and hoping Diamond will come back.
I am posting a couple of photos for them. Not very good photos as they keep swimming.

waiting to go to bed
I want Lynettea to shut off the computer and switch the light off. It is hot in here and nicer outside in my enclosure, where it is dark. The front window is open and when she switches off the light and pulls the blind up, I will be able to see out. We have mosquito wire mesh and a security screen over the windows so it is quite safe for me. No-one can get in to annoy me. I am sprawled on the floorboards, as it is cooler. Hot again tomorrow.
Happy sleeping everyone.

Sasha the Protector
I am trying to protect our crops. I know I don't eat them, but they are food for Lynettea. She came out with me on her lead around dark yesterday and tried to prevent me from hunting. She told me not to worry, as there were no rats.
Then she shook the vine where it arches over the path and a rat sprang out and ran along the fence rail. If I hadn't had a clumsy human to manage on her lead I might have been able to seize it.
It dashed off, but today there were bite marks on the grapes. The birds also peck them during the day. I am at my wits end, dashing from window to window when I am awake. Of course I need to rest.
Here are some of the grapes. They are not fully ripe, but Lynettea has picked them to save them from the rat teeth overnight.

cat nap
I may have dropped off for a minute.
I am entitled to a brief nap after guarding the house all night.
Do I want to go out for my walkies now?
Maybe
or maybe not

Good morning Kitties
To 'behave' or not to 'behave', that is the question.
I let my human take a few photos of me looking sweet on one of my plant stands, posing with my palm tree and then joined her on the bus seat. She hasn't realized until now, that I need all of the bus seat to sprawl on.
My palm tree is small, probably because it has fallen over several times after I inspected its progress.

Busy already?
How come we are expected to be busy this early in the year? You want to resume making the bed? Although you can see I have settled down comfortably? Oh, you say you were out uprooting plants in the garden. Weeds you call them and bushes that have got out of control. It is all 'control', isn't it? Where are the wild places that rats and lizards can hide? Ever thought about them?
The small birds are all flying in to the birdbath now the lemongrass clump is less bushy? That is a good thing. I might get up to look at them after my rest.
You mean, get up now?
But I don't think I want to be a good little cat helper this morning.

My Portrait for the New Year
No rest for me, even on New Year's Day. Lynettea insisted that I needed to update my portrait to show my new maturity. Unfortunately it now looks too small. She must have miscalculated. The usual human mess up. I will make her do me something larger. This will be only good as a stamp.
Well I got her to upload it and if you click on the image it enlarges so you can read the writing.
Happy New Year 2016!
